Mxolisi Ngwane – Artist of the Month April 2022

Mxolisi Ngwane is the Woza Moya Artist of the Month for April 2022. His artwork titled “Nature’s Beauty”, is an upcycled piece and is made from: bucket lids, sequins, yogurt containers, fabric softener containers and Tupperware lids.

He is a South African artist who was born and raised here in Kwa-Zulu Natal. He lives with his wife and two children in Kwa Knyswa.

Mxolisi is a self-taught artist who is inspired by nature and other artists work, his first medium was pencil work. He started making art in grade 8. He was inspired by a fellow pupil who was very talented and he encouraged him to start making art. Mxolisi started drawing cartoons, inspired by the anime series Dragon Balls, he then started drawing celebrities. After High school he made a series of animal sketches that were turned into prints and cards and started selling them commercially. He also painted murals at Embocraft.

He started working at Woza Moya in 2018 where he worked in the upcycling department making flowers and art from waste, which includes accessories and décor fine art.

Bidding for Painting and Artist’s Cards

The painting is for up for auction and people can bid for the painting, bidding starts at R1500 at the start of each month, bidding will close at the end of the month and the person who has the highest bid gets to purchase the painting, the artist will get a further percentage of the sale.

To assist the artist we have reproduced the artwork on a gift card and the artist gets 50% of the profit from the sale of his or her cards. If you love the artist’s work please support them by buying a card they are only R25, and card sales help artists earn a passive income.
