Crafts that empower, uplift and inspire.

Reflections Exhibition June/July 2022

The Reflections Exhibition is by a group of artists, including Maggie Strachan, Joan Martin, Lara Mellon and Ana Pereira de Vlieg, as well as students of Maggie Strachan’s studio. It includes a wide range of paintings, drawings and mixed media works. The artists have explored light reflections, reflected images, as well as expressed their personal interpretations of the Reflections theme in their own unique ways from the most subtle and delicate sketches and paintings to bold, vibrant oil paintings and multi-media works.
Maggie Strachan’s work is inspired by a nostalgia for the beauty, mystery and diversity of the natural environment. Joan Martin’s work, often using Fergal, her sphynx cat as her subject, has a distinctive illustrative linear quality and includes expressive marks and textures. Lara Mellon’s contribution is a reflection of her ongoing spiritual journey, while Ana Pereira de Vlieg’s work on this exhibition is a series of spontaneous plein air small works, inspired by nature.
Apart from being able to take in a visual feast of affordable art, visitors can also enjoy refreshments from the Ubuntu Ground Café, making this a pleasurable outing.
The exhibition is being held at the invitation of Paula Thomson, Executive Manager of Woza Moya Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust, and a percentage of the proceeds will go to the Trust.
