African Elephant Beaded Wirework

This beaded wirework sculpture was handcrafted by Lexus.

Some African elephant facts:

• The African elephant is the largest land mammal on earth.
• An adult elephant weighs up to 7 tons and reaches a height of up to 3.3m at the shoulder.
• Elephants live for around 70 years.

What you might not know is that African elephants have been classified into 2 separate species: the larger and more common African bush elephant and the smaller African forest elephant.

Along with the lion, leopard, black rhinoceros and African buffalo, the African bush elephant is part of the Big Five game animals in Africa.
